LAKHIMPUR: The popular talk of the three-month-long certificate course - Foundation Course on Human Rights and Duties, recognized by University Grant Commission (UGC), was held at North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) on Wednesday.
Co-ordinator of the course, Dr. Binod Chetia explained the objective of the event. In addition to chairing the event, former co-ordinator-cum-Head of the Department of Education, Banikanta Konear delivered the welcome address in the presence of Principal Dr. Biman Chandra Chetia, IQAC co-ordinators Raghab Porajuli, Ishmirekha Hundique Konwar and other educationists.
The event began with the presentation of a Borgeet by Lipi Dutta and Koushik Baruah. Prominent lawyer Rajib Gogoi, who is also a writer, theatre director and actor, took part in the event as resource person of the popular talk. He delivered an informative lecture on 'Human Rights and Duties'' analyzing various sections of the Indian Constitution in connection with the topic. He also made an elaborate discussion over the misuse of social media and legal measures related to the issue in his lecture. The students and dignitaries present in the event held an interactive session with the resource person regarding various queries in connection with the topic.
