BAKSA: Bijay Sarania (39) of Dighilipar village under Tamulpur police station in Baksa district, who was working in Sipcot Industry of Ballurgaon under Bengaluru district of Tamil Nadu, was allegedly killed by his friends with sharp weapons.

Bijay Sarania, son of Jagat Sarania, a resident of Dighilipar village under Tamulpur subdivision in Baksa district, moved to Tamil Nadu in June 2020 with few other youths from Tamulpur to work in a company. He started working in Sipcot Industry located at Ballurgaon in Bengaluru district of Tamil Nadu along with five other youths. But on April 13, Bijay Sarania was allegedly involved in conflict with his fellow teammates, Prashanta Deka and Nipu Sarania of Tamulpur, for Rs 300. After a war of words for a few minutes, all of them left the place. Prashant and Nipu went for a walk. On the other hand, Bijay slept in his room.

Suddenly, Prashanta and Nipu allegedly entered the room and attacked Bijay with sharp weapons while he was sleeping. Bijay was seriously injured in the attack. A youth who was near Bijay at that time witnessed the incident and informed the contractor under whom Bijay worked. The contractor immediately admitted Bijay to the Edinburgh Oxford Hospital but Bijay breathed his last at night.

Bijay's body was brought to his home at Tamulpur on April 19 and his last rites were performed on Tuesday. In connection with the incident, Tamil Nadu police arrested Prashanta Deka and Nipu Sarania and sent them to judicial custody. Bijay's family, on the other hand, lodged an FIR in Tamulpur police station in connection with the incident.
