Tarun Gogoi's last wish to be fulfilled, his ashes to travel across the state: Gaurav Gogoi

Tarun Gogoi's ashes will be first taken to his constituency, Titabor

Guwahati: The son of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and Congress MP, Gaurav Gogoi said that the ashes of Tarun Gogoi will be first taken to Titabor constituency, after which it will be taken to other parts of the state. Tarun Gogoi was cremated at the Nabagraha Cremation ground in Guwahati on Thursday.

Three-time CM of the state, Tarun Gogoi, who was in the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for quite a long period of time, told the doctors that he wanted to visit Titabor and the other parts of the state. Gaurav Gogoi told the reporters about Tarun Gogoi's wish while he was in GMCH. Tarun Gogoi also wanted to call a press meeting to share with people the dreams that he had nurtured, said MP Gaurav Gogoi.

Gaurav Gogoi said that his father wanted to visit the constituency that he has represented, but he could not due to his illness.

The veteran Congress leader, Tarun Gogoi's last wish will be fulfilled by his family as they will take his ashes around the state - Titabor, Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys, Upper and Lower Assam and the North Bank.

Loksabha MP Gaurav Gogoi said that as a son, it is his responsibility to fulfil the wishes of his father. He said, "My father may not be present with us but his ideals, dreams and aspirations for the youth, for the bright future of rural people and the well-being of all sections will continue to be with us."

Gaurav Gogoi also thanked the people of the state who showered so much love and respect to his father, Tarun Gogoi.

After battling with the COVID-19 and its post-recovery complications, the 86-year-old Gogoi passed away on November 23. He was cremated on November 26.
