GOLAGHAT: The officials of Tata Consumer Products (TCPL) visited North Eastern Tea Association (NETA) headquarters at Golaghat for an interactive-cum-tea testing session. A large number of members of NETA participated in the event. TCPL is one of the largest tea companies of the world and NETA is one of the leading tea producers associations of India.
During the interactive meet the focus was on improvement of quality of tea and better price realisation. TCPL emphasised on proper density of tea that Assam producers should take seriously in addition to other parameters in improving the quality of tea. Producers were urged to use good packaging materials and take care of proper marking in bags. NETA has flagged some pertinent issues faced by producers in selling teas to TCPL. TCPL has informed that for the convenience of producers they have started accepting self declaration by producers which will help in ease of doing business.
The interactive meet was followed by a tea testing session. While testing the teas, the officials of TCPL expressed satisfaction in quality of teas produced by the members of NETA and suggested measures needed to be taken for further improvement. This type of direct interaction between the buyers and producers helps in better understanding and therefore both the parties have decided to make it an annual event.
