Tea worker injured in leopard attack at Dibrugarh's Tamulbari Tea Estate

The tea worker has been identified as Minu Majhi of Tamulbari Tea Estate. Maji has been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

DIBRUGAR: A tea worker was attacked by a leopard while she was busy in plucking tea leaves at Tamulbari Tea Estate in Dibrugarh on Wednesday morning. The tea worker has been identified as Minu Majhi of Tamulbari Tea Estate. Maji has been rushed to the hospital for treatment. Majhi bore minor injuries during the attack.

Minu Maji said, “I was busy in plucking tea leaves in the morning when a leopard who has taken refuge behind a tree attacked me from the back side. After attacking me, the leopard ran away.” “The leopard tried to attack me on my face but I turned my face and I got injured on my back. During the incident many women were plucking tea leaves,” she said. A 7-year-old boy was killed in a leopard attack at Satishpur Tea Garden in Namrup on Monday.

According to reports, the boy had gone missing while he was returning home, later his body was found with injury marks. After searching for over 10 hours, the body of the boy was found in a nearby forest. “Man-animal conflict has been rising due to shrinking of forest covers and as a result the animals comes out of the forest in search of food, resulting in conflict,” said an environmentalist
