Tea workers stage protest in Biswanath Chariali led by ATTSA president Mahesh Chhatri

The ATTSA carried out a two-hour sit-in in the tea gardens of Biswanath Chariali on Monday. The protest was led by Biswanath branch ATTSA president Mahesh Chhatri and secretary Sadananda Tanty and supported by Pratapgarh, Dhuli, Pabhai and Giladhari sub-branches of ATTSA.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The ATTSA carried out a two-hour sit-in in the tea gardens of Biswanath Chariali on Monday. The protest was led by Biswanath branch ATTSA president Mahesh Chhatri and secretary Sadananda Tanty and supported by Pratapgarh, Dhuli, Pabhai and Giladhari sub-branches of ATTSA.

The protesters held placards demanding daily wage increase for tea workers, employment of unemployed youth, fulfilment of promises made to tea workers by the plantation authorities. They also demanded solutions to the problems of tea workers including alleged irregularities in provident funds, poor quality health services, etc.

They handed over a memorandum to the tea plantation authorities. The ATTSA’s central assistant general secretary Anant Sona, organizing secretary Aiban Tati and district office bearers participated in the sit-in.
