Teachers’ Day Celebrated Across State with Enthusiasm

Hailakandi: Along with the rest of the country, Teachers’ Day coinciding with the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was observed in a befitting manner across schools and educational institutions across Hailakandi district. At the main function held at Nazrul Sadan auditorium here on Wednesday, District Development Commissioner, FR Laskar, while inaugurating the event by lighting the traditional lamp, said there’s no end to education and students must gather knowledge to enrich their lives and in nation building process. Laskar urged the teachers and students to help create a congenial atmosphere for the development of the state in particular and the country as a whole on various fronts.

Altogether 33 meritorious teachers were presented with the district level award by the district administration. The highlight of today’s function was felicitation of Head Teacher of Narainpur Basic School, Jaya Das, who was awarded for the exemplary bravery she displayed while warding off miscreants during the Measles Rubella vaccination campaign.

Haflong: The 57th Teachers’ Day was centrally celebrated at Haflong. The programme was organized by Inspector of Schools, Dima Hasao, Haflong and member secretary of 57th Teachers’ Day district Level Celebration Committee, Dima Hasao, Haflong. ADC Bikram Dev Sarmah presided over the programme and Flaming Rupsi Shylla, EM i/c Education etc. attended as a chief guest of the day-long programme held at Cultural Institute Hall,

Haflong. The programme started with the felicitation of the VIPs graced in the dias with gamosa, lightening of lamps and offering of floral tribute at the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The programme was also attended by Gayatri Naiding, Inspector of Schools, Malabika Longmailai, Retired Principal, Haflong Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Officers and staff of the education department, media persons and a large number of teaching communities.

Dibrugarh: The centrally organised Teachers’ Day celebrations were held in District Library on Wednesday under the aegis of the Dibrugarh District Central Teachers’ Day Organising Committee. In her speech, DC Laya Madduri stressed the need for the teachers to do their duties with a sense of sacrifice for the betterment of the students. She also observed that if the teachers instil a sense of confidence among the students, and help them discover their hidden strengths, the future of the country as well as of the students would be bright and secure.

District Development Commissioner Jadhav Saikia and Professor of Education Department of Dibrugarh University, Dr. Prabin Gogoi also shared words of wisdom in their respective speeches. The event was also graced by other dignitaries including Inspector of Schools, Semina Yasmin Ara Rahman and Elementary Education Officer, Pranati Bora. The occasion was also used to felicitate 10 noted teachers of the district including Namita Devi of Dighalibazar Lower Primary School and Rumi Gogoi of Shri Sankardev Lower Primary School.

KOKRAJHAR: The 57th Teachers’ Day was celebrated at the auditorium hall of Basic Training Centre, Kokrajhar on Wednesday. The Department of Education, BTC, organized the programme in a befitting manner where teachers with good performance, including retired teachers, were felicitated and honoured. Addressing the gathering as chief guest, the chief of BTC, Hagrama Mohilary said the future of the students depended upon the teachers and the growth and development of the country depended on good citizens who were created by teachers. He said teachers had a responsibility to make the future of a student who would rule the nation in future.

“There may be many problems and shortcomings among the teachers and in schools. The government has to look after the problems of the teachers and schools. We are trying to our best to address the problems of the teachers and other academic problems in the region,” he said, adding that everyone should come forward for qualitative education. Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma said teachers were the guides and future architects of the students. “Teachers have the responsibility to produce good students who will later be good citizens of the country,” she said.

As many as 143 retired well-performing teachers of Kokrajhar district, that included 67 of LP schools, 26 of ME schools and 50 of HE and HS schools, were felicitated with cash Rs. 1,000, citation and traditional Aronai. Altogether four LP teachers, two ME and three HE and HS schools in-service good performing teachers were also felicitated with cash Rs. 5,000 each, citation and traditional Aronai. The felicitation ceremony, which was chaired by the Joint Secretary of Education, BTC, Arun Kr. Basumatary, was also attended by BTC EM Doneswar Goyary, ADC of Kokrajhar, PC Barman and other officers of the education department.

TINSUKIA: The 57th Teachers’ Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrisnan was observed centrally by Tinsukia district administration at Tinsukia College with a day-long programme. The meeting, chaired by renowned educationist Radha Kanta Gogoi, was attended by teachers from several educational institutions across the district. Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, Principal of DHSK College, Dibrugarh, was present as chief guest. As many as 25 teachers of the district in various categories were felicitated on the occasion. Amir Hussain, Inspector of Schools, explained the significance of the day.

TANGLA: Teachers’ Day was also celebrated at various schools and junior colleges of the town on Wednesday. Jatiya Vidyalaya, Tangla feted retired school teacher Dhaneswar Deka with phulam Bihuwan and a certificate of honour. The event was chaired by Manoranjan Sarma and was initiated with the lighting of lamps and garlanding the portrait of the Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan by Associate Professor of the Department of Assamese of Tangla College, Dr. Hemlata Devi. Speaking on the occasion, Dhaneswar Deka reiterated the role of teachers as the torchbearers of the society. “Their intellectual pursuits help their students to achieve goals and the young generation will have to work hard to meet the challenges and outshine in different fields,” he added.
