Team of scientists from Taiwan visits Nagaon

NAGAON: A team of scientists from the World Vegetables Centre, Taiwan, led by Dr Paola Sotelo Cardona and Dr Sopana Yule visited various crops fields of farmers as well as climate resilient demonstration, vermicompost production and OP seed production demonstration units in the district on Saturday and reviewed the progress of various agricultural schemes being implemented under Assam Project on Agri business and Rural Transformation (APART) sponsored by World Bank.

During the visit, the Taiwan scientists team visited the crop fields of Palash Saikia at Nagaon Dakorghat area, Nilutpal Goswami at Kawoimari, Mithu Sarma at Nagaon Sensuwa respectively. During their visit, the Taiwan scientists team interacted with the farmers and took stock from them. District Agriculture Officer Tarun Hazarika, coordinator to district agriculture mission Pankaj Hazarika and coordinator to World Vegetables Centre, Sudipta Das accompanied the Taiwan scientists team during the visit.

The Union as well as State governments initiated a slew of schemes in the state agriculture sector as well as other under Assam Project on Agri business and Rural Transformation (APART) with special financial assistance from the World Bank to boost agricultural products across the state so that the rural economy of the state can flourish in the days to come.
