Jorhat: Teok Tea Estate owned by Amalgamated Tata Tea Plantation Pvt Ltd, continues to be tense as lock-out entered the fifth day while police picked up 10 more persons on Thursday.
In a press briefing by DIG (ER) Dr. V Shiv Prasad Ganjawala at the Jorhat SP’s office chamber on Wednesday night, he said that the investigating police officials would keep no stone unturned and so far a total of 41 persons had been picked up and phase-wise they had been sent to jail. More directly involved tea labourers would be arrested very soon, he said. As per reports, some labourers who were part of the mob had escaped to neigbouring areas and this has created concern among the innocent arrested labourers of the tea estate.
“We will take at least 15 to 20 days to issue charge-sheet. Commissioner and Finance Secretary Shyam Jagannathan had been asked to carry out the inquiry regarding the killing and we hope that all the guilty will be brought to book soon,” said the DIG (ER)
