Tezpur Police nabbed two accused in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: Acting on a tip-off, Tezpur Police on Sunday arrested two accused who were wanted for killing two senior citizens 15 days ago under Tezpur police station area in Sonitpur district. The arrested persons have been identified as Gitimoni Bezbarua and Ujjal Bezbarua.

The operation was led by Additional SP (HQ), NumalMahatta and DSP (HQ), DrRashmiRekha Sharma under the leadership of Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur, MugdhajyotiDevMahanta.

Briefing the media, Additional SP, NumalMahatta said that on November 22 complainant DorothiYerawadekar, daughter of Brian Orrige, village of 14 A, Anandvan Heritage, Anand Nagar, Pune in Maharashtra lodged an FIR at Tezpur Police Station. It was stated that on the intervening night, two senior citizens, a couple named Brian Orrige (85) and AshaOrrige (70) years were found murdered in their own residence at Patiachuburi under TezpurSadar police station. In this connection, a case videTezpur PS case no. 2217/20U/S 302 IPC was registered. Mahatta further said that based on specific input, Tezpur Police conducted an operation in the area of Bebejia and Patiachuburi under the jurisdiction of Tezpur PS. During the operation, two prime accused GitimoniBezbarua, (20) and UjjalBezbarua (24) were arrested and they have confessed to the double murder of the Brian family at Patiachuburi on November 20 at around 11.30 night. Police also recovered the robbed items from their possession. Further investigation is going on. Official sources said that the case was constantly monitored by DGP, ADGP, IGP, CID and DIG (NR).
