TEZPUR: Teaching Learning Centre (TLC), Tezpur University organized an “Online Weeklong Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on “Enhancing Administrative Skills” for non-teaching staff during May 24 to May 30. A total of 210 participants from non-teaching and teaching fraternity from across the country joined the online STTP. The inaugural speech was delivered by Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University, where he emphasized enhancing administrative skills for both teaching and non-teaching staff in higher education institutions. He mentioned that these types of trainings can equip administrative staff with necessary skills and knowledge to handle their roles effectively. “This type of training improves efficiency in administrative processes, such as student registration, record keeping, financial management, etc.,” Prof. Singh said.
Prof. Subhrangshu Sekhar Sarkar, Director, Teaching Learning Centre presented a brief outline of the contents covered in the STTP which included various topics like Disciplinary Procedure, Annual Performance Assessment Report (APAR), Noting, Drafting and Official Communication, Managing Financial Aspects for Research Grants, Online File Creation and Sharing etc.
Eminent resource persons took various sessions which included Prof. Niranjan Roy, Dept. of Economics, Assam University, Dr. Braja Bandhu Mishra, Finance Officer, Tezpur University, Mr. B. N. Choudhury, Former Registrar, NIT, Meghalaya, Dr. Biren Das, Registrar, Tezpur University, Dr. A. Jena, Former Finance Officer, IGNTU, Amarkantak to name a few.
There were 3 special sessions, one panel discussion on National Board of Accreditation, Academic and Administrative Audit, National Assessment and Accreditation Council, National Institutional Ranking Framework, where Prof. M. K. Hazarika, Dept. of Food Engineering & Technology , Tezpur University and Prof. Rupam Kataki, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell , Tezpur University took part.
Second session was on practical demonstration on adopting digital methods for administrative convenience by Dr. Swapna Borah and Ikbal Hussain Ahmed of TLC and the third session was on managing research grants that was taken by a team from IIT Guwahati led by Dibyojyoti Goswami and Labanu Konwer. The valedictory session was attended by team members of TLC and the participants.
