Tezpur University student’s death to be investigated by 3-member committee

TEZPUR: To ensure a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a Post Graduate student of M.Sc., Dept. of Environmental Science and a Boarder of Saraighat CV Raman Men’s Hostel, who was found dead in his room in the morning of June 22, Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the cause of this unfortunate incident.

“The incident, which occurred on June 22 has deeply saddened the Tezpur University community and in order to ascertain the facts and to prevent such incidents in future, the University has taken the step to initiate a thorough investigation,” Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University said.

The three-member committee shall examine the events leading to the student’s death and identify potential areas for improvement. The Committee will submit a report within thirty days from the date of issue of the notification. The committee members are Prof. Dhanapati Deka, Convenor (of the Committee) & former Dean, Students Welfare, Prof. B.K Danta of Dept. of English and Dr. Madhurima Goswami, Head, Chandraprabha Saikiani Centre for Women Studies.
