TEZPUR: Students of Tezpur University staged a play named 'Raghumola' on Sunday at the Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rabha (KBR) Auditorium under the banner of Tezpur University Drama Club and Kristi. The play was conceptualized, written, directed and acted solely by the students of the university. The satirical thriller received wide acclaim for its presentation from the veteran theatre professionals of Sonitpur district and Tezpur University fraternity who attended the theatrical evening.

The play features a fictional village in Assam named 'Naakphula' where a fire at a tea factory leads to unusual occurrences in the lives of the villagers. A budding journalist visits 'Naakphula' to write a story about the fire but encounters its unusual people who wear black glasses. As the story unfolds, the play turns darker, revealing a mystery hidden in the shadow of the tea factory. The play manifests the downside of hero-worshipping, dogmatism and greed for money at the expense of other people's lives.

The cast and crew of the play included Juganta Janam, Indrakarma Baishnab, Arnab Ratna Pawe, Anamika Nath, Franklin Burhagohain. Tezpur University's age long tradition of staging thought-provoking student-made plays was interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 'Raghumola' set in motion this practice after a gap of two long years.
