GUWAHATI: Amid several speculations over the Congress MLA Rakibul Hussain joining AGP, the Nowgaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi has now made it clear that Hussain is not joining any other party.
While addressing the media on Thursday the Congress MP for the Nowgong constituency said that there is no chance of Rakibul Hussain leaving Congress and joining Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
Bordoloi further said the matter is just a rumour speculated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the aim to mislead the party members and the citizens of Assam.
The Congress leader also said that the main motive behind such speculations by BJP is to break the morale of the Assam Congress leaders as the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) polls are going to take place soon.
He claimed that apart from this the ruling party is also misleading the general public to gain benefits ahead of the GMC elections scheduled to be held on Friday 22 April.
On speaking about the former APCC president Ripun Bora joining Trinamool Congress (TMC), Bordoloi said that leaving Congress and joining TMC was a personal choice of Bora.
The massive jolt in the party due to the Ripun Bora shifting to TMC has resulted in many speculations about many other congress leaders might join other parties.
It may be mentioned that earlier this week, Ripun Bora issued his resignation letter addressing Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and announced his association with the new party TMC.
In a recent press conference, Bora clarifies his decision of joining TMC led by Mamata Banerjee and also explains the reason for leaving Congress.
According to Bora Congress has failed to defeat the BJP because of the infighting among the party members and he strongly believes that only TMC can fight BJP.
Meanwhile, it is speculated that the Congress MLA Rakibul Hussain representing the Samaguri constituency would soon join the AGP quitting the grand old party.
