Tezpur: The three-day workshop on mime organized by Bhoomi, a socio-cultural organization of Tezpur, concluded here on Monday. The workshop was aimed at providing a creative platform to make an attempt to explore hidden talent of children, students and youngsters for promoting and preserving the rich culture of the country. The programme was presided over by Kulen Sarma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur and chief advisor of Bhoomi, in the presence of noted theatre personality Mridul Chutia, social worker Rumi Sarma, and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Kulen Sarma appreciated the participants and the dignitaries and explained the objective of the workshop. Attending the programme as a chief guest, noted theatre artist Mridul Chutia said that mime was a form of silent art that involved acting or communicating using only movements, gestures, and facial expressions and mime was an ancient art that dated back to the early Greeks and Romans. He also said that a mime performer has not justified his act if he does not express the emotions and message to the audience properly. He also appreciated the organizers for organizing such a workshop that provided opportunities to children to express their creative skills.
A total of 30 participants took part in the workshop and they were also given memento and certificates. The programme was ended with a vote of thanks by Dip Kumar Kalita, Secretary of Bhoomi and Chief Instructor of the workshop.
