Three drown; bodies recovered in Demow River

DEMOW: A tragic incident took place in Dhemechi Kerekoni Gaon near Nitaipukhuri where Kalyan Gogoi, an inhabitant of Nitaipukhuri Hahporachuk, and his family allegedly ended their lives by drowning in the Demow River in Thursday morning.

Kalyan Gogoi was a teacher in a private school in Nitaipukhuri. The SDRF team recovered Kalyan Gogoi's Scotty ( AS 04 G 7596) on Thursday but could not recover their bodies. On the second day of the search operation under the supervision of Demow and Moran administration and police, the SDRF team recovered the bodies of Kalyan Gogoi, his wife Dipa Gogoi and their daughter Priyadarshini (4) from Demow River on Friday.

Moran Police sent the three bodies for post mortem. Kalyan Gogoi had blamed Dimpi Chetia and her husband in his Facebook post on Thursday morning and after the incident, Nitaipukhuri Police apprehended Jitu Tapan Chetia and his wife Dimpi Chetia on Thursday.
