KAZIRANGA: An award function was organized by Jungle Rhythm for the forest guards of Kaziranga National Park on Saturday.
The Jungle Rhythms-Service Excellence Awards, 2019 were given away to three forest personnel - Dharanidhar Bora, retired Range Officer, Agaratoli Range, and two casual workers - Manik Ali and Mintu Bora of Kaziranga National Park - at the Convention Centre, Kohora. They were awarded for excellent work in the protection of rhino as well as flora and fauna at Kaziranga.
Jadav Payeng, who is also known as the Forest Man of India, was the chief guest of the event. He said that the forest guards were the real heroes of KNP as they risked their lives to do their duty. “I appeal to the department to regularize the jobs of the casual guards because protection is not possible without the effort of the guards,” he said.
Nirmalya Chakraborty, founder member and chief editor of Jungle Rhythm, said, “This is the first time we are giving the excellence service award and hope it will continue every year to appreciate the dedicated guards of KNP.”
