Three Hackers Arrested In Assam's Golaghat For Fraudulent Money Transactions

In May this year, the three hackers had swindled the principal of Khumtai College by withdrawing an amount of Rs. 13 lakh from his bank account keeping him in the dark

GUWAHATI: Three hackers, who were involved in swindling a number of people in the state of lakhs of rupees, have been apprehended by police in Golaghat district.

As per reports, the hackers, who have been identified as Motibul Rahman, Shahid Ahmed Laskar and Nurul Ahmed Barbhuiya were arrested on Saturday.

In May this year, the three hackers had swindled the principal of Khumtai College by withdrawing an amount of Rs. 13 lakh from his bank account keeping him in the dark. The principal, after coming to know about the incident which had happened with him, filed a complaint following which an investigation was initiated by the police. The hackers had been managing to remain out of the grasp of police for a long time, but they finally got trapped in police net on Saturday, reports said.

Police recovered a swanky car, seven cell phones, 52 bank pass books, 57 debit cards, five fake SIM cards, one laptop and many objectionable documents from the possession of the hackers. It is being suspected the hackers are part of a big racket and there are many other hackers active and they are being supported by money launders outside the state. The case is being probed further.

It may be mentioned that many people have been arrested in Assam in hacking-related cases in the last few years. Jalukbari police arrested two ATM hackers from Maligaon in January last year. The two hackers – Md Asif and Jannat Khan –hail from Haryana. As many as 42 ATM cards and Rs 32,000 have been seized from them.
