KOKRAJHAR: In a crackdown against illegal peddlers in Kokrajhar town, the Kokrajhar police on Friday arrested three more drugs suppliers along with contraband drugs from their possession in Kokrajhar town.

Speaking to mediapersons, Kokrajhar DSP Punnam Pegu said that based on input, an operation was carried out by a police team led by her on Friday along with Officer In-charge of Kokrajhar Sadar Police Station, Biswajit Medhi and Town Traffic Police Officer at Tengapara area in Kokrajhar town where the three youths were apprehended. She said that the arrested youths were identified as Gwjantao Narzary (22) of Tengapara, Kennedy Brahma (23) of Forest Colony, Habrubari and Sagar Daimary (23) of Baganshali. All are college students.

An amount of Rs 15,000, two syringes, 11 containers containing suspected heroin and seven empty containers were recovered from them, she said, adding that so far 10 drug peddlers had been arrested in the district in the last three months. Pegu said the operation against illegal drugs suppliers and users would continue and their aim was to make the society free of drugs in the district.
