Thriller T20 Match Turns Fatal for Assam Youth

SIVASAGAR: In a very sad incident, a cricket fan from Assam had a heart attack and died during India vs Pakistan match on Sunday.

34 years old Bitu Gogoi hailing from the Sivasagar district of Assam had gone to watch the high voltage India vs Pakistan match. He and his friends went to a local cinema hall to enjoy the live telecast of the match on the big screen this Sunday.

However, during the march itself, Bitu Gogoi suddenly became unconscious and collapsed. His friends rushed him immediately to a nearby medical facility. But he was found dead on arrival by the doctors on duty. The physicians of the facility mentioned the probable cause of death was a severe cardiac arrest. And the high noise levels inside the hall during the match have been cited as a probable reason for the heart attack.

The family had mentioned that the deceased did not have any medical issues in the past. And a team from Assam police has already started an investigation into the matter. The dead body was sent for a post-mortem and the exact reasons will be known only after the report arrives.

A similar incident happened in Hyderabad about a month back, when a 22-year-old succumbed to a cardiac arrest after watching a T20 match between India and Australia.

The T20 Cricket World Cup is underway in Australia and the best cricketing nations of the world are fighting to establish their dominion in this form of the game. Cricket matches between India and Pakistan have always been an important avenue for the sport itself. These matches have the largest number of spectators worldwide.

The T20 match between both teams on Sunday had all the spectators on the edge of their seats. With the loss of each wicket and the hit of each boundary in both innings, the result seemed to sway throughout the match. Starting slowly the Pakistani team managed a score of 159 runs which the Indian team chased down on the very last ball of the match.
