Tinsukia DC Stresses COVID Awareness Programme in Tea Garden Areas

TINSUKIA: Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Pawar Narsing Sambhaji in an interaction with media persons of Margherita on Sunday assured that that at least 10 ICU beds and the number of hospital beds along with the medical team would be increased in the Margherita FRU within few days.

In a press meet at the conference hall of the office of the Margherita SDO, the Tinsukia DC spoke predominantly about the COVID-19 situation in the district. Stressing extensive awareness programme in tea garden areas, Sambhaji lauded the steps initiated by tea garden managers and student bodies in mitigating the spread of infection. The combined efforts of district administration and tea garden management along with other stakeholders had considerably reduced transmission and the death rate and allayed the fear among the garden populace. The meeting was attended by Dipu Kr. Deka, ADC Tinsukia, and Palash Rajkumar Ahom, ADC in-charge Margherita subdivision besides others, stated.

Apart from the COVID-19 situation, the Tinsukia DC also spoke on the vulnerability of the flood situation and soil erosion in some pockets of the subdivision. He mentioned that the administration had also geared up in three stages i.e pre-flood control, actions during the flood, and finally post-flood rehabilitation efforts. He urged the media, to stand true to their nature as the fourth pillar of democracy and assist the administration in efforts to curb the menace of COVID-19.
