Tinsukia District Child Protection Unit organises a workshop on child protection issues

As a part of 90-day State Child Protection Society campaign on Suroxito Xaisab- Sonali Axom, the Tinsukia District Child Protection Unit organised a day-long workshop-cum-convergence meeting for media persons at the conference hall of District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) on Tuesday.

TINSUKIA: As a part of 90-day State Child Protection Society campaign on Suroxito Xaisab- Sonali Axom, the Tinsukia District Child Protection Unit organised a day-long workshop-cum-convergence meeting for media persons at the conference hall of District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) on Tuesday.

The inaugural session was addressed by DLSA secretary FU Choudhury and Tinsukia DIPRO Mamoon Borkotoky. Choudhury in his address outlined the involvement of various stakeholders like concerned departments, schools, colleges, and non-governmental organisations in 90-day campaign. The meeting also deliberated on child protection issues like child labour, child marriage, child trafficking, and child substance abuse. While Satya Narayan Baruah, legal officer welcomed the media persons, Bedanta Kalita i/c DCPO Tinsukia laid the aims and objectives of the meeting. In technical session FU Choudhury spoke on ‘Role of Media house in handling a Child in need of Care and Protection (CNCP) and Child in Conflict with Laws (CICL)’. Amulya Khatoniar, senior journalist deliberated on ‘Role of media personnel in protection of child rights’. Deepanjali Chetia, member of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Tinsukia as one of the resource persons highlighted on ‘Role of CWC in regards to CNCP. The technical session was followed by lively interaction with media persons. The workshop concluded with suggestions and remarks followed by vote of thanks by Satya Narayan Baruah.
