TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia District Committee of Asom Prathamik TET Uttirno Sikshak Samaj (APTETUSS), while expressing solidarity with its parent body, refused to sign the fresh agreement sent by Samagra Siksha Abhiyan Mission, Assam and demanded withdrawal of order SSA/ Misc/Esstt Matters/542/2003/2645 of 24.9.2020.
In a memorandum to the Mission Director, submitted through Tinsukia district mission coordinator on Saturday, the APTETUSS stated that at time when the State Cabinet's decision brought a ray of hope to the service condition of several thousand contractual teachers by providing additional benefits, the latest order from the SSA Mission came as a bolt from the blue for the teachers. It stated that the central committee submitted 'Birodh Barnana Patra' to the Commissioner & Secretary Education and also to the Principal Secretary but no heed was paid to their representation. The memo stated that the teachers would refrain from signing the unilateral agreement till discussion were held on the representation and till then pressure tactics should not be applied on teachers.
The committee also urged upon the education directorate to arrange for official discussion with the central committee members soon and if solution did not come up within a week, the APTETUSS would resort to SSA office gherao programme on October 9 along with other districts.
