Tinsukia police seized drugs worth Rs 5 crore

TINSUKIA: Tinsukia police seized a huge quantity of drugs valued Rs 5 crore in international market on Saturday morning from a night super bus on its arrival at Tinsukia from Dimapur.

According to SP of Tinsukia Abhijit Gurav, based on a secret information regarding trafficking of large quantity of drugs from Dimapur to Tinsukia on a night super bus, a trap was laid at AT Road near ASTC Bus Stand, Tinsukia and at about 5.30am the night super from Dimapur bearing registration number AS01JC6754 was intercepted. A total of 60 packets of soap boxes in plastic containers containing 765.81 grams of suspected Heroin which were concealed inside a cloth bag in the side dickey of the bus were seized. Four persons were apprehended who have been identified as Pankaj Dihingia alias Dighala (49) s/o Lt Thaneswar Dihingia of Betbari Da-Gaon under Sivsagar Police Station, Dijen Deka (45), s/o Lt Budheswar Deka of Borkola under Nagaon Police Station, Binod Bhumij alias Babu, (20), s/o Milan Bhimij of Pragjyotishpur, Pipal Tol under Duliajan Police Station, Dibrugarh district and Surendar Rai-motia (30), s/o Jainath Rai, c/o Prahlad Dutta of Manab Kalyan, Near Brahmakumari under Tinsukia Police Station. The operation team was led by DSP HQ Hiranya Borah, OC Tinsukia Paragjyoti Buragohain, TSI Bhaskar Raj Baruah.
