MANGALDAI: "The BJP-led government is highly concerned for the development and welfare of the rural farmers who are the backbone of our country and reiterating the commitment to the people, both the Union and the State governments have been offering assistance to the farmers, including tractors, power tillers, bio fertilizers, seeds and irrigation facilities at a subsidized rate, not only to increase the productivity but also to increase the income of the farmers. But it is very unfortunate that a section of beneficiaries has reportedly been using the tractors and power tillers in non-agriculture activities like transportation of earth, sand, boulders, that too in violation of the forest rules. I again appeal to all the farmers of our district to make proper use of such tools and machineries for agricultural activities only," said Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das while taking part in the distribution of power tillers, paddy thresher machines and seeds among the beneficiaries organized by the District Agriculture Office on Friday. He also appealed to the youth of the district to come forward to get involved in agriculture activities by availing the facilities and all the assistance offered by the Agriculture department.

Earlier, District Agriculture Officer Dr. Uddhab Deka, in his welcome speech, explained in details about the schemes adopted by the Agriculture department for the farmers of the district and also gave an account of achievements made by the rural farmers of the district. In the function, legislator Guru Das distributed 25 power tillers, 11 paddy thrashers and seeds of maize at subsidized rate among the beneficiaries in presence of Agriculture Development Officers and media persons Bhargab Kumar Das, Mayukh Goswami, Mukut Raj Sarma and Dwipen Barua.
