Nagaon:
Top AGP leaders Atul Bora, Assam minister for agriculture, Keshab Mahanta,
Assam minister for water resources, former MLA Hiranya Konwar, and famous
singer Kalpana Patowary who has recently joined the AGP, attended the National
Unity Conference in Nagaon on Monday.
The welcome speech was delivered by MLA Naren Sonowal
at the event.
Over 5,000 people attended the meeting where Pradeep
Duara, AGP's local leader presided over the conference.
Speaking on the event Minister Bora launched a direct
attack on Congress, AIUDF, as well as newly formed regional parties, Assam
Jatiya Parishad. He said that the voters of Assam are very aware and
intelligent and would not go by what these new parties are saying or promising.
The AGP leader said that the AGP-BJP alliance is intact
and would fight the Assembly elections next year together. AGP would contest 14
seats.
Minister Mahanta announced that Naren Sonowal would
continue to be the candidate from the Naharkatia seat for the Assembly
elections next year
Apart from Bora and Mahanta many other leaders
delivered speeches at the event.
Kalpana Patowary sang songs and entertained the people.
She also delivered her speech which was all about religious tolerance and
unity.
Patowary said, "We should respect our differences between Hindus and Muslims but still, we are one Assamese nation. I believe AGP is carrying this thing beautifully".
Minister Bora said, "We BJP and AGP are against Congress and AIUDF. Our party AGP has been formed by the local people of the state, so we will always work for the well-being of its people. If today the people of the state are facing problems in various sectors that is only because Congress did not solve the problems from its roots."
