Training on postal ballot held in District Library auditorium, Tezpur

A training on postal ballot was held for all Sector Officers, micro observers, police personnel and assisting polling personnel along with videographers at the District Library auditorium on Sunday.

TEZPUR: A training on postal ballot was held for all Sector Officers, micro observers, police personnel and assisting polling personnel along with videographers at the District Library auditorium on Sunday.

Voting facility through postal ballot will be made available from March 16-March 19 to all senior citizens above 80 years of age and all PwD voters who had opted for postal ballot and were found eligible and teams comprising of the above mentioned personnel will visit these eligible persons at home. The teams will be assisted by respective BLOs and all contesting candidates will be able to depute agents for the process; adequate police security will also be provided and videography of proceedings will be done for free and fair conduct of the process.

Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh, who was present at the training, appealed to all personnel involved in the process to ensure the entire process was carried out in a free and fair manner. The list of all such 80 plus senior citizens and PwD electors who have been approved for voting through postal ballot, has been made available to all political parties.

Under Tezpur Election District, 3,429 senior citizens, 329 PwD and 15 voters on essential service were found eligible to cast their votes through postal ballot facility. These voters will not be able to cast their votes at the polling stations as they have been allowed to avail postal ballot facility.

Around 500 personnel were present in the meeting which was attended by Returning Officers for each of the 5 LACs under Tezpur Election District, i/c Postal Ballot cell, ADC Dyotiva Bora, along with all officers in charge of various cells. All voters who have been found eligible to cast their votes through postal ballot will receive an SMS from the office of the District Election Officer regarding the same.
