Training programme for Crèche attendants of tea estates held in Tinsukia district

TINSUKIA: Aimed to improve crèche and childcare services in tea gardens, the Assam Branch of Indian Tea Association (ABITA) Zone 1, in support with UNICEF, Assam and Mobile Crèches', a technical partner of ABITA-UNICEF project, organized a day-long training programme for Crèche attendants of tea estates of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts separately at Upasana Kala Kendra Pub Banipur, Dibrugarh and Working Women Girls' Hostel, Rungagora Road, Tinsukia on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Altogether 25 crèche attendants from 20 tea gardens from Dibrugarh district and 21 from 20 TEs of Tinsukia district participated in the training programmes. While P P Bastola, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Dibrugarh, inaugurated the Dibrugarh programme, Madhurjya Barooah, Secretary, ABITA Zone 1, led the Tinsukia programme. Neeru Bhatnagar and Ankita Gupta from Mobile Crèche, New Delhi imparted the training as key facilitators. During the training, the participants were briefed on the subject and demonstrated on growth monitoring to improve the nutritional status of children in tea gardens. Certificates of participation were awarded to all participants at the end of the training.
