Training Programme for Farmers Organized on World Milk Day in Tezpur

An online training programme for farmers was held in context to World Milk Day celebration.

TEZPUR: An online training programme for farmers was held in context to World Milk Day celebration. A total of 69 participants joined the training programme titled 'Scientific management practices for dairy cattle'. Resource personnel from District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Sonitpur, Dr. Binoy Kumar Barman, District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer (i/c), Dr. Monica Bordoloi, Veterinary Officer, Town Veterinary Dispensary, Tezpur, Assam and Dr. Gayatri Das, Veterinary Officer, District Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Tezpur, joined the training programme and interacted with the farmers.

Head, KVK, Sonitpur, Dr. Promod Chandra Deka, in his welcome address highlighted the significance of World Milk Day celebration and stressed various aspects of dairy farming and its scope in the future. Dr. Arifa Momtaz Begum, SMS (Home Science), KVK Sonitpur, AAU, Napam, Tezpur gave a power-point presentation on 'Nutritional properties of milk and common adulterations in milk and milk products' and interacted with the participants highlighting the importance of milk as a nutritious human food.

Hosting the training programme, Dr. Bhrigu Kumar Neog, SMS (Animal Science) KVK Sonitpur, AAU, Napam, Tezpur put forward his presentation on the topic 'Cultivation of improved fodder grass for nutritional security of dairy cows' and also interacted with the farmers on various aspects of dairy farming. A short discussion and feedback session was also included in the training programme primarily to address the constraints of the participating dairy farmers and to encourage them for continuing their good work in the dairy sector.
