Training programme inaugurated at Dibrugarh University

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Saturday inaugurated a five-day residential training programme for Science and Mathematics teachers of Secondary Schools of Assam at Dibrugarh University.

DIBRUGARH: Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Saturday inaugurated a five-day residential training programme for Science and Mathematics teachers of Secondary Schools of Assam at Dibrugarh University. Dibrugarh University Vice Chancellor Jiten Hazarika, Paramananda Sonowal, Registrar, Dibrugarh University and Nirada Devi, Director, SCERT, Assam were present during the inaugural programme. The training programme was attended by almost 400 teachers of five districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Charaideo and Lakhimpur.

Experts from the fields of Science, Mathematics, English and Teaching Pedagogy from different higher education institutes like IIT Guwahati, Dibrugarh University, Kaziranga University will deliver lectures during the five days of the training from January 6 to January 10. The programme is organized by Dibrugarh University in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Assam as part of a series of training programmes enunciated by Government of Assam to train the science and mathematics teachers of secondary schools of Assam.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Ranoj Pegu emphasized on the importance of up-to-date training for ensuring quality science and mathematics teaching in the schools under SEBA.

He also asked the teachers to promote better quality science and mathematics teachings in the schools so that the enrolment for science streams in the senior secondary level increases in near future. Prof. Ankur Bharali, Chairperson of the organizing committee expressed his gratitude to the Government of Assam for selecting Dibrugarh University as one of the two institutes along with IIT Guwahati to conduct the training programme.
