Tribute paid to war heroes on Kargil Vijay Divas across Assam

On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas, General Officer Commanding Gajraj Corps Tezpur, Lt Gen Ravin Khosla laid wreath and paid tributes to the bravehearts of the Kargil War

TEZPUR: On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas, General Officer Commanding Gajraj Corps Tezpur, Lt Gen Ravin Khosla laid wreath and paid tributes to the bravehearts of the Kargil War who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of the country, at Gajraj War Memorial in Tezpur on Monday. Kargil Vijay Divas is celebrated every year on July 26 to commemorate India's resounding victory over Pakistan in Operation Vijay in 1999.

The Kargil War is regarded as a testimony of the Indian Armed Force's grit and determination, in which the soldiers exhibited dauntless courage, resilience, valour and fought against all odds in the high altitude mountains in Kargil.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The 5 Assam Battalion NCC, under the aegis of NCC Group HQs (Tezpur), celebrated Kargil Vijay Divas on Monday to commemorate the war heroes of Kargil. The programme saw huge enthusiasm from NCC cadets of colleges and schools under the Battalion. A webinar was organized on the occasion which included activities ranging from pledge taking, videos on Kargil conflict and National War Memorial, video on PVC Awardees, patriotic poetry competition and quiz. Apart from webinar participation, cadets made posters and paintings and also posted videos on social media.

GOLAGHAT: Kargil Vijay Divas was observed at Captain Jintu Gogoi's samadhi kshetra, Khumtai in the district of Golaghat on Monday. With the initiative of the family members of Captain Jintu Gogoi, Jasingfa Lekhiika Samaroh, local people and district administration observed the 22nd Kargil Vijay Divas at the memorial of Captain Jintu Gogoi.

Captain Gogoi who hailed from Khumtai area in Golaghat, fought valiantly against the enemies and attained martyrdom on June 30 in 1999 during the Kargil War. He was captain in 17 Garhwal of the Garhwal Rifles. On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas, the family members and local residents of Captain Gogoi's birthplace paid tribute to the martyr. Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Mrigesh Narayan Barua paid tribute by offering wreath at Captain Jintu Gogoi's memorial.
