AGARTALA : A protest was led by the job aspirants in Tripura on Monday. Unfortunately, the peaceful protests took a U-turn when police and security personnel resorted to lathi charge. Over 50 protesters who were graduates, suffered injuries during the violent intervention.
The incident took place in front of the Tripura Education Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, on Monday. The event turned into a political warfare in a blink of an eye, as the opposition party lashed out at the government for being so brutal towards the protestors.
The opposition party claimed that, it was complete injustice as the protestors were only seeking what they deserve. One of the protestors, Biplab Bhowmik informed the media that, the gathering in front of Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath's residence was expecting to meet the minister once.
Nath ensured the aspirants that their demands will be fulfilled soon. He also informed that the recruitment files that are stuck will be soon processed, added the protestor. However, the minister went out of his residence without talking to any of the aspirants.
Despite maintaining peace during the protest, police, CRPF and TSR charged with canes on the people gathered. Three person were rushed to the hospital after suffering major injuries while two others received critical hand injuries, stated Bhowmik. Surprisingly, a pregnant lady was also beaten by a male police personnel and a man fractured his leg in the episode.
Leaders of the political parties, CPI (M), Congress and Trinamool congress visited the IGM hospital in Agartala where the victims were admitted. Jitendra Choudhury, CPI (M) state secretary stated that, this is by far the most brutal government that has ever existed.
The youths of the state have been harassed in the past five years. He further encouraged the STGT aspirants to raise their voice in a democratic manner and ensured the parties support in it.
