GUWAHATI: Troops of Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier apprehended an Indian smuggler and rescued 201 cattle heads from the bordering areas of Coochbehar district in West Bengal, Dhubri & South Salamara on Tuesday night.

Acting on a tip off, on intervening night of Tuesday, troops of BSF BOP Hatichar of 41 Bn BSF under Guwahati Frontier carried out a special operation in general areas of 60-Bigha, PS- Sukhchar village in South Salamara district and apprehended an Indian cattle smuggler along with 10 cattle heads. Apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Sajjan Shekh (30 years). The cattle smuggler has been handed over to Sukhchar Police Station in South Salamara district for further legal action. Besides above, vigilant Seema Prahari of BSF have also rescued 191 cattle heads in various other operations from bordering areas of Coochbehar district in West Bengal, Dhubri & South Salamara (Assam), stated a press release.
