Tuberculosis awareness programme held in Tezpur

TEZPUR: Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das on Saturday inaugurated a TB IEC hoarding at Mahabhairab Mandir, Tezpur in presence of Sanjoy Roy, DTO, Secretary Mahabhairab Mandir, NTEP staff and others. The DC appreciated the step taken by NTEP Sonitpur as part of the END-TB strategy by placing the hoarding at Mahabhairab Mandir which sees a large gathering of people.

Later, an awareness programme was held at Mahabhairab Mandir office in presence of Deputy Director, F&CS, B.C. Bordoloi, Secretary, Mahabhairab Mandir, Munin Baruah, Ex-Ward Commissioner Anjali Kalita and members of the NGO "Future of Assam Helping Hands". Sanjoy Roy, District TB Officer shared on the health, social and economic consequences caused by TB and urged to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic. He also shared some facts on warning and awareness for early detection. Elaborating on the signs, symptoms and treatment procedures of TB, he also stressed that everyone should come together to learn about the disease and disseminate information to the community.
