Two arrested for theft by Lakhimpur Police

Launching a successful operation, Lakhimpur Police apprehended two notorious thieves on Sunday.

LAKHIMPUR: Launching a successful operation, Lakhimpur Police apprehended two notorious thieves on Sunday. They have been identified as Mahammad Nur Hussain (28), and Mahammad Sadikul Islam (46), residents of village Podumoni under Laluk Police Station.

A team of police, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Pranab Kumar Pegu and Khelmati Outpost in-charge Kartik Basak could manage the notorious thieves from their own residences on Sunday morning after getting information from reliable source. These thieves and their racket were allegedly involved in number of burglaries that took place Laluk, North Lakhimpur town Bihpuriya and other places, creating havoc to the public during the past days. According to ASP Pranab Kumar Pegu, they were habitual offenders and were involved in crime for many years. From their custody, police recovered various theft items like television sets, batteries, water motors, mobile sets and mobile accessories of worth rupees five lakhs approximately. Police has continued interrogation and launched operation to nab the rest members of their gang.
