BISWANATH CHARIALI: With the help of the local people of Borgang, police managed to arrest two suspected child traffickers on Friday at Morangaon under Behali police station in Biswanath district.
The arrested persons were identified as Irfan Khan and Suman Das and the duo had been allegedly trafficking children from the greater Behali area to Arunachal Pradesh for long. Among the trafficked children, three are still missing while one was recovered recently. According to one of the accused persons, a lady from Gohpur has been masterminding the whole racket. The poor and illiterate parents of the area are lured for better livelihood and thus their children are sent to the neighbouring State after which most of the children lose contact with their respective homes. Local people and social organizations have demanded the government agencies to initiate thorough investigation in the matter and to take stern action against the guilty.
