Two-day long training of trainers heldtraining of trainers , APART, Nagaon

NAGAON: A two-day long training of trainers on mechanization (seed to seed), drying, storage and processing was held under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon from July 11, which concluded on Wednesday.

The programme started with an inaugural address by Dr Niranjan Deka, principal scientist and Head, KVK Nagaon. In his speech, he explained the objectives of the programme and the benefits of using the machineries by reducing the labour cost as well as time. He requested the farmers to come forward and take the opportunities of those farm machineries.

The event was attended by scientists from IRRI, all KVK fraternity, including APART team of KVK Nagaon. Over 25 participants from 5 FPOs and 3 FPCs, including progressive farmers representing different blocks of Nagaon district, participated in the training programme.

On the first day, Dr Vivek Kumar, associate scientist, and Hrishikesh Phukan, junior researcher from IRRI, attended the programme and explained about the quality seed production, DSR techniques, different machines used for harvesting, threshing, drying and storage etc before the participants.

On the second day, various farm machineries available in the KVK, Nagaon were demonstrated in the programme by Hrishikesh Phukan and Priyanka Deka, project associates, APART of KVK, Nagaon. The RT from IRRI, G Singh and Pabitra Nath from KVK, Nagaon, displayed and operated the machineries viz mini combine harvester, reaper, seed cum fertilizer drill, portable rice mill, dry grinding machine, paddy transplanter, laser land leveller, drum seeder, rice puffing machine, dry grinding machine etc. in presence of the participants.
