TEZPUR: A two-day training programme on 'Post Harvest Machineries' under APART was organized by KVK Sonitpur at KVK, Sonitpur campus.
Dr. Promod Chandra Deka, Head, KVK, Sonitpur, elaborated about the mechanization in rice cultivation becoming a necessity among the farmers of Assam owing to the scarcity of labour and increased labour charges. Nitesh Gupta, Project Scientist (Post harvest) OPIU-APART, AAU, Jorhat, acted as resource person who presented the technical know how of different agricultural machineries and tools. Gupta explained in details about the functioning of some of the machineries and tools provided to the KVK, Sonitpur under the APART project. He also demonstrated Solar bubble dryer, moisture metre and super bag.
The farmers showed keen interest on machineries demostrated in the programme. Around 25 farmers from different parts of the district and all officials of KVK, Sonitpur attended the programme. Earlier, Dr. Roji Chutia, SMS, Agronomy as well as Nodal Officer, APART of KVK, Sonitpur welcomed the farmers on the occasion. She also emphasized the importance of agricultural machineries in the context of present agriculture.
