Two Dead, One Seriously Injured in Accident in Kaziranga

The reasons for the accident have also not been revealed, but speculations are that the commercial vehicle involved in the accident was being driven at high-speed.

GOLAGHAT: An accident that took place on National Highway 37, led to the death of two people and injury to one more person. The accident reportedly took place at Kaziranga of Assam, near the Haldhibari locality on the morning of Saturday.

According to reports, the incident took place when a commercial pickup vehicle collided with a truck that was parked on the shoulder of the National Highway. The vehicle reportedly hit the parked truck from behind.

While two of the passengers in the commercial vehicle died on the spot because of the incident, the driver of the vehicle had to be admitted to a nearby medical facility in critical condition.

The police did not reveal the identities of the victims of the accident. The reasons for the accident have also not been revealed, but speculations are that the pickup truck was being driven at a high speed and that the driver made an error of judgement leading to the accident.

More details are awaited regarding the incident.

Previously, one Padma Thapa, a resident of Jharnapani in Samar Dalani, under the Sootea police station, died in a road accident a few days back. He was 37 years old at the time of death. According to local reports, Thapa was heading towards his home from Biswanath Chariali side. His motorcycle collided with another motorcycle near Khanaguri in Sootea. As he fell from his motorbike on NH-15, a speeding Bolero vehicle going in the opposite direction ran him over. Severely injured Thapa was shifted to the Biswanath Sub-divisional Hospital immediately by the 108 services, but he was declared dead on arrival. The Bolero vehicle however escaped from the accident location. His body was sent for a postmortem. He left behind his mother, wife, son, and daughter, along with a host of relatives.
