Two Drugs Peddlers Nabbed, Heroin Seized at Naharkatia

NAHARKATIA: After taking charge as Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police, Shwetank Mishra made it clear to show zero tolerance against illegal narcotics trade. Continuing with the crackdown on drug peddlers, Namrup DSP Kula Pradip Bhattacharjee successfully supervised another operation on May 27 at Naharkatia and caught two drug peddlers.

Based on information, a team of Naharkatia police led by Officer in-charge Bhaskar Saikia on Thursday conduct raid in the shop of Rantu Das (21) at Daily Bazar, Naharkatia and recovered 5 gm heroin. Another drug peddler Zamil Qureshi (23) of Naharkatia Lachit Nagar was also nabbed.

Later the police team searched their houses at Purani Gaon under Duliajan PS and Naharkatia and recovered empty plastic containers used for smuggling of heroin. Interrogation is on. Naharkatia police registered a case under the sections of 21a/ 25/27 of NDPS Act and sent the two peddlers to Dibrugarh jail on Friday.
