Two Ex-NLFB Militants Killed In Encounter In Assam's Chirang District

The ASP who received two bullet injuries was rushed to Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon but was later referred to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Guwahati: Two surrendered militants of the National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) were neutralised in police firing in Assam's Chirang district on Tuesday.

According to reports, the two surrendered NLFB militants were allegedly involved in dacoity.

Unfortunately, an additional superintendent of police was also injured in the firing between police and militants.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) G P Singh appreciated the team and said, ''Valiant action by Additional SP @chirangpolice Sri Prakash Medhi. Despite receiving a bullet injury, he & his team neutralised two criminals after a heavy exchange of fire in Runikhata, Chirang early this morning. @assampolice is proud of you.''

The incident occurred at the Khungring area under Ruikhata police station in Chirang district.

The deceased have been identified as Mahanta Narzary, a former member of NLFB, and Raja Boro.
