Two held with drugs in Golaghat district

In an operation of Assam Police against drugs and narcotics in the State, the Sarupathar police arrested two persons from the Podumoni area of Sarupathar under Dhansiri subdivision in Golaghat district.

SARUPATHAR: In an operation of Assam Police against drugs and narcotics in the State, the Sarupathar police arrested two persons from the Podumoni area of Sarupathar under Dhansiri subdivision in Golaghat district.

A team led by Amit Hojai, SDPO of Dhansiri subdivision, and Sunti Hazarika, officer-in-charge of Sarupathar police station, in association with the local public, seized drugs suspected to be brown sugar and apprehended two persons, identified as Benudhar Gogoi, resident of Sewaguri, and Champak Gogoi, resident of Podumoni in Sarupathar.

Champak Gogoi said that he had gone to jail for drug trafficking before. This time a man from the neighboring State of Nagaland supplied him drugs and the exchange point was Balipathar.

Amit Hojai, SDPO of Dhansiri subdivision, said that the police would keep an eye on drug-related activity and would give special importance to the subdivision. He also urged local people to support the police.
