Two high-profile candidates file nomination for bye-polls in Sivasagar

DEMOW: As Friday was the last date for filing of the nomination papers for the bye-election which will be held on October 30, 2021, Sushanta Borgohain, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Thowra constituency, filed his nomination before the Election Officer in Sivasagar on Friday.

The BJP supporters took out a rally from Demow to Sivasagar when Sushanta Borgohain went to file his nomination papers. on Friday. He was accompanied by Chief Minister .Himanta Biswa Sarma. A meeting was also organized where Chief Minister Sarma addressed the gathering. Pijush Hazarika, State Water Resources Minister, Jogen Mohan, State Revenue Minister, Dr Ranoj Pegu, State Education Minister, Keshab Mahanta, State Health Minister, Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Jorhat MP, Pradan Barua, Lakhimpur MP, Kushal Dowari, former MLA of Thowra constituency, along with other BJP and AGP leaders were present during the filing of nomination papers.

On the other hand, Manuranjan Konwar, Congress candidate for Thowra constituency, also filed his nomination papers before the Election Officer in Sivasagar on Friday. He was accompanied by Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee, general secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and other Congress leaders.
