Two more containment zones declared in Chirang District

In view of detection of as many as 20 COVID-19 positive cases within 48 hours at Kawatika (Pub) under Bijni Police Station

KOKRAJHAR: In view of detection of as many as 20 COVID-19 positive cases within 48 hours at Kawatika (Pub) under Bijni Police Station, the Deputy Commissioner and chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Chirang, Narendra Kumar Shah on Friday declared two containment zones in that area in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and prevention of further spread of COVID-19.

In this connection, he issued an order to declare the areas bounded by residence of Ratan Jain in the north, residence of Amlesh Sarkar in the south, village road in the east and paddy field in the west and Nadini Dairy farm in the north, village roads in the south and east and paddy field in the west as containment zones.

The Circle Officer of Bijni Revenue Circle was directed by him to seal these areas immediately for prohibiting any unauthorized persons' entry and exit, including movement of vehicles into these notified containment zones till the area is declared safe as per the guidelines of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of lndia. He also directed the residents of those areas to strictly follow all statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing, wearing of mask, frequent washing of hands and use of hand sanitizer.

This order was made under the regulations the Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and will be effective from 5 PM of May 28, 2021 for 14 days. "Any violation of this order will attract action under the provision of the Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020, the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and other relevant laws in force," the order further said.
