Two more COVID-19 fatalities reported in Lakhimpur, 103 cases detected

Two more COVID-19 fatalities were reported in Lakhimpur district on Thursday.

LAKHIMPUR: Two more COVID-19 fatalities were reported in Lakhimpur district on Thursday. One of them has been identified as Gulak Kalita (87), resident of Simaluguri Kuhiyarbari under Naoboicha Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC) area. Another person is a 6 year old child named Pubyam Pegu, child of Mridul Pegu, resident of Tamar Gaon, Dofolakota under Naoboicha BPHC area. They breathed their last in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH).

On the other hand, a total of 103 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Thursday. Out of them, 98 cases were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while rest 5 cases were detected as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. On this day, the District Health Department conducted 11,173 RATs in the nine COVID-19 test centres of the district, including the Block Primary Health Centres (BPHCs) and private nursing homes and registered 162.87 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 6,860. The RAT cases were reported from Dhalpur BPHC (10), Bihpuriya BPHC (16), Naoboicha BPHC (25), Boginadi BPHC (3), Ghilamora BPHC (1) Dhakuakhana BPHC (29) and Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (10).

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district during the second wave of the pandemic has hiked to 9,586 since April 1 of this year. Out of them, 8,754 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 734 have been active cases at present. On Thursday, 106 recovered patients were discharged from institutional isolation while 22 recovered patients were discharged from home isolation. During the second wave, 98 people succumbed to the COVID-19 in the district raising the overall tally of the pandemic fatalities up to 157 including last year's fatalities.
