Two more COVID-19 fatalities reported in Lakhimpur

Two more fatalities due to COVID-19 infection were reported in Lakhimpur on Saturday.

LAKHIMPUR: Two more fatalities due to COVID-19 infection were reported in Lakhimpur on Saturday. The deceased persons have been identified as Swapan Mandal (53), resident of No. 2 Parbatipur under Bihpuriya area, and Niranjan Baruah (45), resident of Mahdhora Gandhia under Dhakuakhana subdivision. The former breathed his last in Baptist Christian Missionary Hospital, Borgang under Biswanath district while the latter succumbed to the virus in Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh.

On the other hand, a total of 95 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district in last two days. Out of them, 92 cases were detected as per the results of the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and three cases were reported as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. On this day, the District Health Department conducted RAT upon altogether 3,759 persons in eight COVID-19 Test Centres across the district. With these tests conducted, the Health Department of the district registered 109.59 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 3430. The detected cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (1), Dhalpur BPHC (9), Bihpuriya BPHC (18), Naoboicha BPHC (21), Boginadi BPHC (10), Ghilamora BPHC (3), Dhakuakhana BPHC (8) and Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (22).

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has hiked to 13,498 since April 4 of the last year. Out of them, 12,287 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 1,085 are active cases. On Saturday, 28 recovered patients were discharged from institutional isolation while 87 recovered patients were discharged from home isolation.
