LAKHIMPUR: Two more fatalities due to COVID-19 infection were reported in Lakhimpur on Friday. One of the deceased persons has been identified as Mujibur Rahman (61), resident of Phukanarhat. The other person is a 7-year old child who has been identified as Rajibul Islam under Borsola village under Naoboicha Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC) area. The former died at home while the child breathed his last in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH).

On the other hand, a total of 90 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Friday. Out of them, 87 cases were detected as per the results of the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 3 cases were reported as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. On this day, the District Health Department conducted RAT upon altogether 3,760 persons in eight COVID-19 Test Centres across the district. The detected cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (4), Dhalpur BPHC (15), Bihpuriya BPHC (15), Naoboicha BPHC (11), Boginadi BPHC (17), Ghilamora BPHC (6) Dhakuakhana BPHC (7), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (8) and Private Nursing Homes (4).

On this day, the Health Department of the district registered 111 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure of 3,430.

Notably, a total of 4,561 people of the district tested positive for COVID-19 during the second wave of the contagion since April 1 of the current year. Out of them, 58 people succumbed to the pandemic, raising the overall tally of the COVID-19 fatalities of the district up to 117, including the first wave.
