TEZPUR: Acting on a tip-off, Sonitpur police launched an operation under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Dr Dhananjay Ghanawat and Additional SP (Head quarters) Madhurima Das along with Chariduar police, two National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) militants were injured in a police encounter, while another was arrested in the 12 mile area near Bhalukpong under Chariduar Police station in Sonitpur district on Thursday night.
While talking to the media, SP Dr Dhananjay Ghanawat said that the injured militants have been identified as Gendra Basumatary and Khampandar Basumatary while the arrested militant has been identified as Irakdao Narzary and the militants were reportedly camping in the 12 miles area since the last few days. Five mobile handsets and NLFB printed letterheads were recovered from their possession, he added.
