Guwahati: After Ripun Bora, who recently parted ways with the Congress, the two-time Congress MLA Bismita Gogoi is likely to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to reports, Gogoi is all set to join BJP on April 28 at an event in upper Assam's Dibrugarh in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Notably, Prime Minister will visit Dibrugarh, where he will inaugurate seven new cancer hospitals on April 28.
The reports also claimed that MLA Gogoi is in talks with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and expressed her willingness to join the BJP.
Gogoi has served as the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Handloom, Textile, Sericulture, and Backward Classes Welfare from 2015 to 2016 in the Congress-led state government.
Prior to this, in 2008, she was appointed as General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress.
