LAKHIMPUR: The United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO), which has been working for the socio-economic development of the Bodo-Kachari people living outside BTAD, including their political and constitutional rights, has greeted the winner candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (Bharatiya Janata Party, Asom Gana Parishad, United People's Party Liberal and Sanmilito Gana Shakti, Asom Alliance).
Notably, the common forum of the Bodo community people, living in 22 districts outside the BTAD, conducted open campaign in support of the candidates nominated by BJP-led alliance in the Assam Legislative Assembly Election, 2021. In a press release, UBPO president Manoranjan Basumatary and general secretary Pitambar Brahma extended heartfelt thanks to the Bodo community people for supporting the NDA alliance candidates.
In the press release, UBPO further stated that the BJP-led State Government, in last five years, initiated remarkable steps to secure the existence of the indigenous sons of the soil of the State and to protect their rights, in addition to implementing a lot of aspiring schemes for the comprehensive development and welfare of the common people amid several burning problems, such as anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019) agitation, COVID-19 pandemic situation, devastating flood and erosion and the Baghjan tradegy.
"Moreover, the BJP-led State Government had attempted to establish a strong political system for the indigenous tribes and communities of the State by signing the BTR Accord and constituting the Moran, Motok and Kamatapur Autonomous Councils.
